The Powerful Words of Lincoln and Our Visit to Lincoln Presidential Library

Lincoln’s “beaver” hat (above) was his hat just before his silk hat for Washington D.C.

This weekend, Suzanne and Richie had an extraordinary private tour through the vault with curator James Cornelius! He and Olivia Mahoney have just put together “Undying Words: Lincoln, 1858-1865”, an exhibition at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum in Springfield, IL.

A powerful look at Lincoln’s greatest words and how they helped end slavery in America, more than 120 items are on display, including two dozen that have never before been displayed publicly.  Also in the exhibit was the bed Lincoln died in on the morning of April 15, 1965 after being shot the night before by John Wilkes Booth at Ford Theater.

2015 will be an exciting year in the history of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.  It is the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s death and the 10 year celebration of the museum campus.

We love the Lincoln Library & Museum!
