The London and New York-based auction house Phillips has a lot of momentum. The Contemporary Art department, which ranks third behind Sotheby’s and Christie’s, is looking to close the gap with new hires, notably as Cheyenne Westphal, Sotheby’s former world-wide head of contemporary art, announced her new London-based position as Chairman on May 12. The Phillips auction starts out strong with this nicely sized Line Vautrin mirror. We have been coveting one (on behalf of a wonderful client) for some time now!

We love this Jean-Pierre Hagnauer occasional table c. 1970. Such a great idea!! Silver-plated brass around petrified wood. This one is number 4 from the edition, and the catalog states that Bill Blass used one as a bedside table in his Manhattan apartment.

The black lacquered cabinet by Maria Pergay c. 1967 is elegant and well formed. Our eye is drawn to the nickel-plated brass design element as an inset stripe delineating the form into four equal parts.
