PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES
Some of the world’s top designers are branching out from luxury residential spaces to superyachts. Claire Wrathall asks them how they’ve made the move.

Suzanne Lovell began her career as an architect for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill before establishing her own studio in Chicago in 1985 to specialize in residential design and fine art advisory. “It’s second nature for us to integrate fine art into a project,” says Kristin Murphy Romanski, its fine art director. One such example is the 65m Codecasa Eternity. “We actually conceptualized [it] as a platform for a curated mobile art experience that simultaneously promotes Bahamian artists [the yacht is based in Nassau], while opening up the conversation to include international names. We even dreamed the yacht would dock at Art Basel and other art fairs and exhibitions around the world.”
