For the past ten years, Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades Collections have inspired those of us who have a wanderlust for travel. First launched in 2012, the travel-inspired furniture and objects are each made in collaboration with internationally renowned designers.

Past and present, some of the designers employed are the Campana Brothers, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders, and India Mahdavi. The hope is that the artists’ international flair brings the yearly showcase to audiences around the globe. The one caveat (courtesy of Russh), “is that each designer must create functional pieces of art that nod to Louis Vuitton’s vision of exploration, embodying the brand’s design codes and savoir-faire.”

This collection is just another way for Louis Vuitton to show their dedication to the creation of “all things beautiful.” Whether it’s a hammock or a rocking chair, collaborating with some of the biggest names in design and furniture has resulted in invaluable pieces.

Each limited-edition object pushes the boundaries of leather… in such, featuring the company’s attention to complex craftsmanship and creative innovation.

The collection pays homage to some of Louis Vuitton’s most recognizable pieces; specifically, the iconic Bed Truck that was produced in 1874. The bed was designed for Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza when the explorer ordered a “camp bed” to use when traveling to the French Colonies.

Objets Nomades and Petits Nomades pieces continue to maintain the same level to craftsmanship and attention to detail. Throughout it all, Louis Vuitton’s time-honored design values continue to be upheld and honored.

One piece that is especially stunning is Marcel Wanders’ Petal Chair. The Dutch designer’s presentation is a beautiful representation of a “bud in bloom.” The chair is upholstered in a soft cream-colored, hand-stitched leather that essentially embraces the body and creates the feeling of how it must feel to rest inside a flower.

Especially relevant to the Maison is that the chair is reminiscent of Monogram Louis Vuitton’s iconic four-pointed flower. The base’s aluminum structure mimics a stem and features thin legs that “create the feeling of a delicate spring garden.”

Of course the Maison could not design the capsule without adding technology to the mix. Thanks to “Augmented Reality Technology,” the collection is able to be viewed in a client’s own home. Using a smartphone, and with the help of 3-D technology, you do not have to imagine what the items will look like once you get them under your roof.
