As Art Basel draws to a close this weekend, we wanted to feature one of our favorite parts – the big art. Art Basel Unlimited is the sector that features artwork too large for traditional fair booths. Scale is truly epic as visitors get to experience the work of artists they may already know in a smaller scale as grand installations. We really have the chance to “dream big” as we craft spaces to hold the experience of art every day. So inspiring.

We love Marianne Boesky for introducing us to Hans Op de Beeck. His black and white renditions of interiors (especially) are introspective, moody, wonderfully executed. It’s fantastic to experience his latest large installation.

Here is another exhibition of monumental work. Christie’s presentation of Kan Yasuda “Touching Time” took place this earlier this year in New York.

The absorbing forms of Yasuda’s sculpture reflect elements of the natural world, which are designed to reflect the viewing experience. The pieces are both monumental and domestic in scale, and engaging in form and material. They benefit from careful contemplation and contract with the machine age architecture of New York City against which they exert a powerful spiritual force.

And finally, ever-inspiring is the Gibbs Farm sculpture park in North Auckland, New Zealand. Enjoy!!
