The 11 Coolest Offices in Chicago 2018

SUZANNE LOVELL INC.
River North / Interior design and art consultancy

“I never want to see taupe again,” says Suzanne Lovell, summarizing her feelings about the color scheme that dominated her River North offices for 15 years prior to an overhaul. Now the 10,000-square-foot space is awash in crisp white (with black accents, including track lighting and large pendants), a perfect backdrop for the many art objects, paintings, photographs and antiques the firm displays on a rotating basis. “We have always led with art for our client projects, and we wanted to live that same philosophy in our studio,” she says. Her 20 employees work at a long, shared desk that runs the length of the space and have ample room to spread out, whether at kitchen-island-like workstations or in the cozy library that greets them and all visitors when they come through the door. “I wanted the library to be the first thing everyone sees,” says Lovell. “Knowledge is power. We want to share our knowledge and make everything we do here approachable.”
